Becoming a Sister (Vowed Membership)
Do you sometimes sense in your life a call to something “more”? Each day presents us with invitations to grow in relationship with God, others and in our consciousness of the world of which we are part. Entering into each new day is exciting, promising and sometimes risky – but it is always God’s gift.
As Sisters of St. Joseph we choose to embrace life joyfully in its fullness and promise. Daily we seek “the more” in contemplative awareness, personal and communal prayer. We live in the friendship of community to be a lively, loving presence in all our relationships. We risk moving outwards to all people, working with others to promote dignity and self-respect. We commit to helping make life better in practical ways and through the sharing of resources. We embrace our responsibilities to honour and care for God’s good creation.
In the rich tapestry of the story of the Sisters of St. Joseph across the centuries and throughout the world we have been, and are still present, “reading the signs of the times”. We are ordinary women, doing ordinary things for the extraordinary love of God. By opening ourselves to the spirit of God’s evolving design of life we embrace this graced moment in our time for the love of God, our neighbour and in the realities of our world. We seek always “the more”. Perhaps you do too!
