As John Henry Newman remarked, “God has created me to do some definite service. God has committed some work to me which has not been committed to another. I have my mission”. We are all called in a special way in light of our personal gifts to be and become, to love and to serve in our world. In discovering my personal vocation I find the source of my deepest meaning, happiness and peace. We all have a special vocation for life and each sort of vocation, when lived well, complements other’s vocations for the flourishing of our world. Some women and men continue to be called to the vibrancy and loveliness of religious life.
The Sisters of St. Joseph, founded in France in 1650, continue to number around 11,000 members world wide. Just as were our first Sisters we are called today to respond to God’s love, reading the signs of our times, as we live out our vocation together with our Associates and partners in the mission of the Gospel.
The Sisters of St. Joseph, through the unifying love of Christ are animated by a life of prayer, live with simplicity and compassion, nurture community, care for God’s creation and neighbour, especially those who are most vulnerable, minister with active, inclusive love, bringing healing and hope in our world. Could this be you? Perhaps you don’t know Sisters well or have never even considered this as a possibility for your life.
If you are a Catholic woman (generally under the age of 50), single, healthy, willing and able to move and with a heart open to God’s voice in your life as you seek to live God’s adventure for you - have you ever reflected on this call? Perhaps you have questions or you feel a nudge to something more, to a road less travelled. Maybe you would like help to discern your direction in life. If so, please feel very welcome to contact Sr. Mary in confidence, (mrowell@csjcanada.org or by the Villa phone 905-372-2741) and you will find a listening ear! Also, keep an eye on upcoming programmes at the Villa that may be helpful to you or consider spiritual direction (accompaniment of your spiritual journey).
